A Few Speed Bumps

Monday, July 29, 2013

I was hoping that 2013 might be our lucky year. I had hope that things would change for the better. My mom had a stroke in February with minimal complications. Thank God. We lost our health insurance April 1st and got it back in June but had to pick out all new doctors which is really hard since I have been with the same doctor (PCP) since 1986. She is the same age as me and you might say we grew up together. I am comfortable with her and she is a great doctor. I had to give her up since I live in MA and she is in NH and I now have MA insurance. ALL my doctors, and I had many, were in NH.

I did the research and picked new doctors and so far I like my PCP and my Dermatologist but I really miss my old doctors. When we were about to lose our insurance my Endocrinologist offered to counsel me for free just to make sure I was ok until we got our insurance back.

It's really important when you have as many health issues as I do to have doctors you trust with your life, literally. Doctors that really care for you and your health rather than collect your co-pays and don't really listen to you or take time to know you or your health issues. It's been a long time since I've had doctors like that which is why I'm having a hard time with the unknown. Hopefully whoever I choose will be as compassionate and caring too.

Now, as far as Dentists...don't get me started. I haven't met one I like yet. But that's a story for another day.

On a better note. I have lost a few pounds. YAY! Of course being with my mom so much has helped. I always lose weight when visit my mom. She weighs all of 125 lbs so I eat differently. I watch what I eat a little more.

Changing doctors is always tough. I dread the day I have to change my endocrinologist. Glad your mom is better and the silver lining is weight loss for you!

I am glad your mom is doing ok and great job getting rid of some weight. I had to recently find a new primary doctor and I wish there was an easier way. It would really suck to have to replace all my doctors. I'm glad it is going fairly well.

Glad to here from you! emoticon

Congratulations on your weight loss! Glad your mom is doing okay. Changing doctors is so difficult. How frustrating! You'll just have to shop around until you find someone you really like.
