I've been doing the Zombies, Run! 5K Training. I took some time off to rest my shins (I get shin splints.), but I've been back at it for 2 weeks now. Today, I did Week 3, Workout 3. The workouts are mostly walking right now, and I've been averaging anywhere between a 17- and a 19-minute mile, depending on the day. Well, I happened to glance at my phone when I was close to 30 minutes in, and I realized that I was really close to averaging 4 mph... so I started running, even though it was a Free Form Run part of the workout, and I usually walk those. I finished the 2nd mile right at 30 minutes, so I averaged 15 minutes per mile!
As if that hadn't already made my day, I finished the 3rd mile in only 14 minutes! My 5K time was 45 min., 48 s! I ran quite a bit more today than I usually do, and I was absolutely exhausted when I was done, but it was SO worth it! Like I said, I usually don't run during the Free Form Runs, but I ran when I could this time, walking only to recover enough to run again, because I wanted to finish in no more than 15 min. like the first 2 miles.
