I set a goal of doing a 100000 steps a week and a million in ten weeks from when I bought my fitbit flex. I made it in 8 1/2 weeks. I rewarded myself by buying a variety of colors for the flex bands. (Totally frivolous for me.) I will wear a new color everytime I get another million.
I decided that when I reached overweight status instead of obese, I would purchase a body fat scale from fitbit as well. That way I wouldn't have to write down any numbers that the scale produced and I could jump on daily and track a bunch of things. (My wife has gotten, into it too) She still has excuses why she dislikes Sparkpeople, but she will wind up here too later I would bet. She usually resists doing what I do until it works or she feels she is being left behind.
These little goals and rewards keep me interested and moving forward with my fitness persuits.
