Living Art...that's what I'd like to be

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

I found some pictures of people who I consider to be living art.
This is what I would like to be if I can just find the courage to go for it.
I'm coming out of my shell each day, a little bit at a time.

Here are some of the pictures but I'm not sure who the photographers are...

Just look at this lady...her glasses, her pants(?), her top with the cut-out places, her hat and jewelry! I think she is awesome! She may be a bit older than me, but this is something like what I would like to dress like when I am her age.

Here are more...
Look at the colors...and PURPLE gloves! Yay! Oversized glasses...bold jewelry. emoticon

And this one...look at HER gloves...the colors she has chosen...and the fabric is elegant.

Or this one...
She...is...FABULOUS! Look at the color...and the fabric...and the hat...her nails are perfectly manicured...and her makeup: gorgeous! Oh...and her bold jewelry, plus that big orange flower. Most of all, I admire her confidence....THEIR confidence!!

This is what I want to be like when I am their age. People may think I'm nutty, but if I can harness confidence like they have, I won't care what people think and I'll be able to pull off something like this. emoticon

I really like the way the young people are having fun with their hair. The Ombre'(?) look is definitely "IN" right now, even in clothing and home decor. A couple of years ago, I almost painted my guest room in the Ombre' fashion with a chocolate brown on the bottom blending into a dried grass color, which then blended into a warm vanilla. Instead, I painted the entire walls the dried grass, then ragged on the chocolate brown that was blended with glaze to make it sheer. Finally, my daughter, husband, and I laid our hands on the wet paint in various places and left three hand prints hidden somewhere in the room.

    As to my hair...
It is a dark blonde with a lot more gray than I realized I have (until I got to the salon and saw it under those lights and the sunlight from the window). I think I would really like to bleach out my hair completely and use the purple toner and shampoo on it to make it lavender or (hopefully) the beautiful white that Paula Deen has. My husband hates the idea. LOL

I don't know, I just want to do something unexpected and hip with my hair but at the same time I want it to NOT look like I'm trying to regain my youth in some ridiculous manner.

I just know that I am tired of this "in-between" stage that I'm in and that looks so ugly...like the ugly, awkward stage we all went through when we were entering puberty (or at least, perhaps, most of us did). I'm not quite young anymore and I'm not quite into menopause either. Still, I think I look younger than most women my age, but not quite "polished" like so many women who are finished with the monthly thing.

    Oh well...

I think I'll go shopping today for dancing clothes. emoticon

Glad you are having fun with this! I occasionally shop at a food store where the cashiers are always changing their hair color. Yesterday I saw a young woman with dark brown hair in a long shag. The tips of the hair blended to purple, then to red.

I appreciate all the comments. Thank you!

I am not waiting to create my look. In fact, I'm doing it now. I went and got a new haircut yesterday. I'm toying with the idea of adding another color to my hair but I haven't decided yet which one, and I already bought some over-sized and colorful sunglasses to wear. I am also finding new, brightly colored items to wear.

I am just saying that I can't make myself older than I am now and so when I do reach their age, I want to look like them. emoticon

I agree........why wait til you're older to rock the look you crave and to be what you want to be? I am older and from that perspective would caution people not to wish their lives away or postpone living the life that they want to live!!!!
Love your concept of "living art." Also that it is not just for what society deems the ideal. Although this lady's style is very unlike the look that I would create, I can appreciate that she is living on the outside the spirit that is within.....
being true to HERSELF! So, taking that basic concept, I am inspired to free up myself and not be afraid to create my own look.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and for the photos!

"Living Art"... I love that phrase. You have an eye for beauty. I think you nailed it on the head when you said "confidence" is what they have!

You can fly! Find your own style and become living art too! emoticon

I agree, why wait. Just pick a few things that you love and copy them.
You can go to a craft and hobby store and buy beads to make a bold necklace and/or bracelets.
Large sunglasses should be easy to find.
I just made a bracelet out of beads and safety pins--maybe I'll try a necklace out of old buttons!
