A Two Day Blog

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

This is today's blog plus yesterday's. I was so swamped at work yesterday that I didn't get a blog done. I told myself I'll do it at home tonight. But after feeding the cats, fixing dinner, doing the dishes (well..putting them in the dishwasher), getting stuff ready for work today I was just to tried. I was in bed by 9. And I don't remember anything until 4:35 AM this morning. So no blog yesterday. emoticon

The one thing I did do was hit the Social Security office for a new Social Security card. Mine was stolen two yrs ago (along with my purse). I had everything replaced except my Social Security card. When I called about replacing that, I was told that I really didn't need to, as long as the stolen one was in my current last name, I knew what my Social Security number was or I had my old card (with my other married name on it). OK..no problem! One less thing I had to worry about back then emoticon . Now fast forward to a week and a half ago. I get an email from HR at work telling me they need a copy of my current Social Security card. HUH? So I take myself down to our HR office and tell them the whole sad story emoticon . They tell they still need it, as proof to Homeland Security that I'm legal to work in the US. Say WHAT?? So I have to run around to get a replacement Social Security card. The Social Security office is open from 9 AM to 3:30 PM Mon - Fri. I work Mon - Fri 6 AM to 5 PM. emoticon How was I going to do this? I decide that since work was requiring I do this, they could just let me do it on company time. Which I did. I got there 20 mins before they opened. The line was HUGE! But once they opened it went smoothly. I was in and out in 45 mins. But the lady who waited on me...she was NOT in a good mood! emoticon

Though all of this I discovered I can't find my birth certificate. emoticon I'm sure it's in the house someplace..but just in case I ordered a new one from California. Cost me $30 and will take two weeks or longer. Luckily I didn't need it for the Social Security card. emoticon

But not a lot happened yesterday at work. We had left over El Polo Loco chicken with hashbrowns and corn for dinner. I got 60 mins in on the treadmill at lunch and had over 15,417 steps for the day! emoticon So here's yesterday's cartoon:

Today has been good so far. I made it to work (always a good thing emoticon ), had my Starbucks, I've done a ton of walking. Just making the circuit of the second floor at work is almost 1,000 steps. I did that every hour this morning. So right now I'm at 15,229 steps so far today, that's 4.98 miles per my handy dandy Fitbit One. emoticon I'm going to try for at least 2,000 more today.

Eating has been good today so far. But ask me again after dinner! emoticon I've been having a Quickie Cake In a Mug after dinner. The calories are OK for it...not so much the frosting. I'll have to try harder there. emoticon

One of my fave shows comes back on tonight. Who Do You Think You Are is back! It's on a differnt network (TLC @ 9/8 central time). Tonight it's Kelly Clarkson looking back at her family. This show always puts me in the mood to go looking at my family history. I have a the World membership in Ancestry.Com and that helps. My family and hubby's dad's family is easier to do then hubby's Hawaiian family. That side is HARD. From burned church records to hanai (informal adoption) makes locating info more then a generation or so back difficult. The TV is MINE tonight! emoticon

OK...I'm off to walk a bit. Have a great rest of Tuesday everyone!

We love that show, too. I was SO disappointed that ABC (or was it NBC) didn't pick it back up. But I just happened to see it was on Lifetime. So I'm happy. Recorded it, but haven't watched it yet... Hugs, Calen~
