Whole30: Day 4

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Today I definitely have more energy. I didn't have any coffee or tea this morning (both are allowed) and I still felt fine. I ended up having about a quarter cup of coffee later on because I wanted the taste. :)

I saw my doctor yesterday and I need to lower my sugars and increase my proteins. I don't generally eat a lot of meat, so I'm making a concerted effort to get more of that in my diet. (With the Whole30 you're not supposed to have legumes, my usual protein go-to.) I figure after this, I'll start introducing legumes back into my diet and see how I feel. Whole30 isn't meant to be a lifestyle diet - just a cleanse.

I'm also trying to stick to 1-2 pieces/servings of fruit a day. I think being GF will help lower my sugars, so long as I don't eat a lot of the prepackaged GF goodies out there.

I see my doctor again in about seven weeks; I'm hoping for a good report!

What about eggs? They are a low-calorie source of protein and very versatile. i recently learned that you can bake eggs--just break an egg into a greased muffin tin! They are great with some greens.
