Well...I did get to the gym with Mom and we had a good work out. The ability to set the machines for myself and others and the way to go about their use is coming back to me. A friend who was very serious about working out taught me a lot about 10 years ago.
I am working with a sick ewe for almost a week now. What presented as a balance problem has now defined itself as Listerosis...infection with Listeria, a form of bacteria sometimes found in fermented grains. We had a pleasant bout of cool, wet weather...not without its own set of problems. The ewe is holding her own..still eating and drinking as long as I keep her in a small area and help her up to her feet several times a day. The initial symptoms have lessened and with antibiotics and supportive therapy it is has everything to do with time and keeping her stress down.
My day job is brisk this time of glad I just work a three day week.
I finished reading Steinbeck's "The Pearl"...strange perspective on true back to finish "The Three Musketeers"...the Queen has been saved from one dilemma.
I swung through and picked up a chicken meal...fried chicken and cole slaw on the way home from work since I knew I would go straight to the barn when I got here...I did...worked with the ewe, hayed the ponies and fed some lambs...then took a nap...then returned to the barn to grain and throw more hay. The ewe had been able to maintain a standing position since I had helped her to her feet three hours earlier. This is the grand daughter of my now deceased but best ewe. She has nice lambs but almost always needs help...but bottom line she contributes to the flock and is a pet.

Thank you for educating me about Listeria, I had only heard of it in regard to frozen foods.

One might use the excuse of pet, as there must be something genetically superior to be kept for breeding :) -even if just congeniality or a special look she gives you.

Don't know if you've read them, but if you like The Three Musketeers...might enjoy Cyrano de Bergerac, Don Juan, Don Quixote, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Swiss Family Robinson and its sequel, as well as I do think the Three Musketeers had a sequel..sorry..went on too long....loved those books....the odd bot stuff I was reading when friends were reading Harlequin romances LOL...ooh dickens..bronte..
