Still Dealing With Spark Changes...

Monday, July 22, 2013

Now, I nearly have it figured out how to use my Workout Generator, I can't seem to find any suggestions for Stretching, like what we used to be offered. Stretching is very important and often overlooked - I used to balk at the idea! It was through becoming a Certified Personal Trainer that I began to realize, both through knowledge and through practice, just how important (and relaxing) it is!

I have a job that the shifts are sporadic, I might get one shift per week, one or two weeks of shifts at a time or even a month off. The work is industrial mechanical, so very physically demanding and am HUGELY insulted when the young kid foreman tells me what I can't physically do. He's built like the Incredible Hulk, so who am I to argue?! LOL

Needless to say, I am very motivated to keep on strength training, but building strength is a process of exerting the muscles and then allowing them to recover. Strength training is best done if it's not done every day. What my current goals are for every day that I'm not working is to do Cardio PLUS alternate my days between a good Strength training and a really good Stretch session. I might have to take up Yoga! :D I need the strength and I need the flexibility and I think this will offer the best results. :) Now to figure out where the Spark Stretching Suggestions are hiding! :)

Thanks, everyone! I searched "stretch" and got plenty of ads with my stretch suggestions. I think Youtube is a better resource for this, but I really don't have enough time to search it all out and do the stretches. :p LOL I really did like it better when Sparkpeople was a simpler site to follow.

I like to try and stretch everyday, too. I have good flexibility for my age and actually have better than some of my kids.

I haven't looked into many of the changes that Spark has initiated. I'm a little afraid that I may "lose" what I've grown accustom to and like. However, some of the new changes sound "new and improved."

Good luck and keep at it.

Not sure what type of stretching you are looking for, but I went to the "Search" putting in stretches.....got one from SP which took me to "Basic Stretch..." and a couple of others. I think it might be under the fitness articles too. Glad you seem to be doing ok....working when you can and taking care of yourself. Good job! Have a wonderful week and let's keep making healthy choices together. emoticon
