I think Lancelot has stomatitis

Saturday, July 20, 2013

Thanks so much to a sparks buddy here I looked up on the internet stomatitis in cats. It's a bacteria that cats get on their gums with ulcers and sores. It is very hard to treat. One of the treatments is to remove all their teeth so the bacteria can't form. From the description it really sounds like what Lancelot has. The funny thing is that it is perhaps an autoimmune disease in cats. Holly Lancelot trying to be like his "mommy" with the autoimmune thing??? Yesterday when I went to visit him I could still get him to purr so happy with that but he had less life in him and still not eating. I will discuss today with the vet the stomatitis and see what they say. Again the article I read said it's very hard to treat. But cats do survive without teeth on a soft diet so if it comes to that I will just deal with it. I think I will be bringing Lancelot home for the week end and then if need be take him back on Monday as the doctor said he doesn't want him to get too depressed. I will try and give him a special liquid diet and hope that I can get some nutrition in him. Poor baby.

On another note, my neighbor and friend is still in the hospital with pain. They are saying that her spine is not curved and is straightened out and that the pain from that could be causing the digestive symptom problems. Sounds weird to me. They are going to fit her with a brace and have her on pain meds. will see if she comes home today.

So crazy stuff going on here in Ajijic. I am going to a reception today for one of the nurses that cares for me that married a Canadian man. I will go for just a little bit as I will not want to leave Lancelot alone too long.

On a good note even with all the stresses I am taking good care of myself and feeling healthy. We had dinner out with friends last night at a seafood place. I was smart and took a note in Spanish explaining my specific diet requirements and what I absolutely could not have and the waiter was very helpful and understood well. So I had nice grilled monk fish with mushrooms and asparagus. Yum!

Hope all my sparks buddies are doing just great. Make it a great day.

Sorry to hear Lancelot is still not feeling well.
I hope they find out what it is that is making
him sick. I'm glad to hear you sound so upbeat
and keeping healthy and especially that you
are able to eat good food as well. Good for you
Sallie. Have a nice Sunday. emoticon

Amazing what we learn from Spark friends, another plus of this site. I love monk fish, but have not thought about it for years. You sure stirred my taste buds. Enjoy the reception.

Hope your kitten starts to feel better soon. With all the soft canned cat food, he should do well even if you do have to have his teeth removed. Take care.
