Telemarketers Who Trick my "Gatekeeper"...

.. and get through to me, deserve what they get. Particularly at 3:30PM on a Friday afternoon in the summer.



Telemarketer: "Are you the person who makes purchasing decisions? Are you the owner of the firm?"

Me: "Actually, there is no owner. The owner died several years ago, tragically. We all work for free. No one makes any decisions any more." DEAD AIR!

As you head into the weekend (and still track all your food despite the fact that its the middle of summer.. and the world brims with dangerous yummies.), consider this: Aren't you really happy your job does not involve trying to sell me stuff? I am a problem customer...

    Love this. I had a telemarketer call me on my dorm phone when I first started college. I didn't even have the number so I was oh you have my number? What is it because I'm not even sure what it is. Dead silence, loved it.

    I have not had a spam call for years. One day i was on the way out the door and (yes, we had no caller ID in the day) carrying Dd in her baby seat to three funeral homes.. not a good week.. Caller insisted on talking,etc, so I said, just a minute until I get a chair. I set the phone on the countertop and left. No more calls when you do that to them,, I also did it deliberately when we eating dinner, set it down two feet from the table and enjoy our meal.

    In a particularly stubborn case I had to resort to setting the phone down and yelling, " It's the cops! Dump it in the toilet,I am NOT going back to prison!" I believe I heard crickets in under twelve seconds on that call... so easy..

    Me too. I particularly abhor the ones who tell me my computer is in need of repair. What computer? I trill and it goes on from there. I have heard of someone who just bursts into song when they get these calls and that seems to put an end to them. emoticon

    When DH and I were planning our wedding, a wedding videographer called me and offered there services.

    I asked them if they realized they were calling the US Virgin Islands.

    They apologized and agreed that their fees would be exorbitant!

    Funny! I like the people selling duct cleaning -- our ducks are perfectly clean (paddling around all day helps keep them that way). And: we have no ducts. Hot water heating.

    emoticon great plan they are a pain when one kept calling our house we would ask them not to call as the person they wanted was not at this phone the response was i will call latter get .... with the calls the next they called and asked if we knew where the person could be reached my brother told them 1800 cemetery dad had been gone several years emoticon like barbs dad response they are a pain.

    This made me laugh out loud. When I was growing up we had no caller ID, yada yada yada. We consistently got a call from a marketer looking for a Becky. Well to begin with, there WAS no Becky in our house. After literally 6 mths. of this, my Dad answered the phone and it was this patheter telemarketer.

    He said, "Unfortunately Becky is in jail with no chance of parole." Strangely, we never heard back from that telemarketer ever again. Leave it to Dad to solve the problem!
