This morning I went to a new doctor for a check-up. I honestly think this is the first time I've gone to a doctor for any reason other than (a) being sick as a dog or (b) in need of a prescription renewal. I just thought I should have a checkup. It's been over a year since I went vegan, so now is a good time to check my blood for things like iron/anemia, B-12, and D - the three things vegans are most prone to have issues with.

The new doctor seems nice and rational, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that she came in and chatted with me, asked if I had any questions, etc. before starting all her poking and prodding. Maybe I've just had bad experiences, or maybe it's just because I've always gone in with some pressing issue, but in the past it feels like a nurse takes vitals and then I wait around forever and then I see the doctor for about 2.5 minutes and (s)he doesn't give a rat's ass what I want or if I have any questions. It was so nice how different this felt. Maybe going to a smaller practice is a good thing.

I feel like I take all the proper precautions with my rainbow of vegetables, my cast iron pans, my love of nooch and my B-12 supplements, etc. And as a vegan I sure as hell shouldn't have any cholesterol problems. :) We'll see when the test results come back!

In completely unrelated news, Cosmo (the cat)'s stitches come out tomorrow morning so then I think we can finally be rid of the cone and the stress of trying to keep him contained. Getting back to normal will be SO GREAT!

And in one final bit of randomness, I have to share that today's lunch was possibly the greatest thing I've eaten in a very long time. I looooove my avocado rolls, but my coworker introduced me to a new sushi place that I didn't know was there and I got a cucumber/avocado/mango maki roll that was the most delicious thing of all time. MANGO IN SUSHI. OMG I am in love. Guess who has a new lunch spot?!

Little by little I am changing. Right now I am a Part-Time Vegetarian with trace of Vegan. I Juice too. I will have to try to find that Nooch, thanks for sharing that. Cheese will be the biggest thing I give up but found some that's veggie kind, not bad.

Fantastic on the new Dr.! May it all be good news with your results!! Mine is giving me a chance to get that Cholesterol under control. BTW, not bad rather not go on drug for it.

Hope your kitty Cosmos will be back to his normal self tomorrow. That has to be hard to keep him contained.

WTG! I loved my doc for the first few years, but I dunno if his patient base has just overgrown, but seems like I get less and less time each visit now. Probably because they can only bill more on that first visit (from insurance companies, that 'established payment' amount is always tremendously lower than the first visit).

emoticon & will continue hope that all the numbers come out great!!!

Nooch = Nutritional Yeast. It's protein and high in B-12 (extremely rare in a vegan food) and I sprinkle it on anything. They call it the vegan parmesan - I put it on tons of stuff!

I looooove avocado period! Now I want me some of your maki rolls. They sound delicious! So what exactly is nooch? Btw, good idea paying a visit to the doctor. Prevention is always a good thing. Awwww, poor Cosmo. Glad the cone and stitches are finally coming off.
