Rest Day(s)

Sometimes a scheduled rest day turns into a handful of rest days. And that's ok.

When I wrote on Sunday, I mentioned that Saturday was a scheduled rest day from the BeFit In 90 Challenge I decided to take on and that Sunday had a workout scheduled but from a fun-filled weekend and lots of walking earlier in the day wasn't sure if I was gonna do it. Well, I didn't do it on Sunday. Or Monday. Or Yesterday for that matter.

It's easy, at that point, to try and beat yourself up over it. "Geez, I've only been working out for a week now and I'm already slacking," or "how do you expect to meet your goals if you're not doing any workouts lazy!" Sometimes you just really don't feel like working out, and that could need your body needs rest. For me, partly, it was a combination of not sleeping well a couple nights, donating plasma on Monday, and my monthly "friend" coming to visit. I donated plasma again today, and recommend you take it easy the rest of the day while your body works to regenerate your plasma, and normally I feel like I just wanna be a couch potato the entire day after a donation (like I did Monday), but I didn't feel that way today. I felt pretty good actually! Today it was more of just a mental block. I wasn't pumped about the RXed workout (the two main workout vids were both cardio and the cool down was functional mobility) but I knew I needed to get my butt going, so I did. I put on my workout clothes, queued up the video, and got down to business.

And, of course, I felt great afterwards... even if halfway thru the 1st cardio session I was like "this is it, I don't wanna do the second one!" but by the end of session one, I knew I could get thru session two but gave myself permission to only do what I felt like doing... finished it though!

So glad I did the workout and put an end to my string of "rest days". I've gotta remind myself that I did quite a bit of walking most of those rest days, so at least they were more along the lines of "active rest days". And, when I weighed Monday morning, I was down a little over 3 lbs... YEAH!

Not much planned tonight or tomorrow... hanging out at home tonight (it's raining and Tom is making some delicious semi-homemade veggie pasta sauce) and tomorrow, other than a workout, I wanna get some wedding stuff done (80 days from today!!!!). We're leaving early Friday morning to head back to Dallas since Tom is in a friend's wedding (said friend is in our wedding as well), and I've got some errands to run up there and hopefully will get to see some family and friends. We were gonna make a weekend of it, since my birthday's on Monday and we typically go with a group to see a Rangers game, but with Tom's job situation in limbo, we're probably just going and coming back on Friday, and I'm totally cool with that.
