South Beach meet South Bear

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

I have done one workout this week, I plan to get some yoga tonight, and then do another cardio workout tomorrow morning. I already picked out my clothes (always a challenge at emoticon 5 am.) Maybe its time for Dance off Belly Fat again. I like that one.

The South Beach diet has an induction phase similar to the Atkins diet. I personally do better with some berries in my diet, when I get too low on my carbs my body temperature takes a dive and I get the shivers and I gain emoticon weight. For me its about finding that happy medium. I'm re-learning emoticon how to feed emoticon my body because I have gained a lot of weight within the last year. I feel betrayed by my body but its not my body's fault. We change as we get older. My body is completely different than it was two years ago. My fat deposits are in different places and are more fluffy. They used to be dense. So, in one way that means as it comes off emoticon the change will be more dramatic and will be more emoticon motivating.

I am finding it hard to start the weight loss again. Thats why I'm revisiting the method I used in the beginning:

1. Daily weigh ins emoticon
2. Daily food journal: emoticon this requires food type and amount (weighing emoticon foods is more accurate than measuring with cups/spoons.)
3. Compare the two to look for trends. Find what is not working and set it aside for now.
4. Cardio before breakfast 4x/week.
5. Yoga every other night before bed.

I don't know why my body is so hard. I don't know. The doctors say I'm normal but in my family we have several 600 pound ladies. I'm struggling. I exercise. I eat reasonable most of the time and I'm at about 220 right now. Its really hard on my self esteem. I've worked really hard to just tread water.

So, instead of sticking my head in the sand, I'm paying attention. I'm not emoticon quitting. I'm in it to win emoticon it.

So, if you don't know what South Bear is, what that means is the bear is my totem and instead of doing strictly South Beach style, I'm doing my own style of eating which is 'South Bear'. So thats: lower carb, only clean carbs, veggies emoticon , proteins emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon , healthy fats, berries emoticon , some legumes, whole organic milk emoticon , whole organic emoticon yogurt.

I don't use any fake sweeteners. I put on weight with (of all things.) sugar free gum. I don't know why. I do know that Jillian Micheals recommends against them. I guess the fake sweeteners induce the release of insulin because of the sweet taste, and as we know, insulin is the fat storage hormone.

I am taking aim at doing my cardio in the AM emoticon before breakfast emoticon emoticon emoticon . I am also aiming at getting at least 20 min. of yoga emoticon every other night before bed. It worked for me in the beginning, and I'm hoping it will work again.

I am taking a little potassium to help with my exhaustion after working in the emoticon heat. I live in a hot emoticon place and we see emoticon triple digits throughout the summer, I don't always get to work inside. I often work in buildings without air conditioning. I sweat a tremendous amount and I used to drink gator aid, but that gives me emoticon headaches and makes me gain emoticon weight. So, I don't do that anymore. You could eat a banana, but I find the little pills to be really convenient and no carbs.

I gained a lot of weight over the past two years and need to get back to basics as well. I think you have a really great plan. You know what works for you and you need to stay with it. You have a lot of dreams that you need to realize . Don't let anything hold you back.
