It's cool and overcast outside today. The storms have passed. No major damage here. There is plenty of major damage not very far from here - I guess three or four tornado's touched down last night.

During last nights run, I had some knee pain. It was bad at times. I went straight from coming home to the message boards to ask advice, and then off to the pharmacy. The pharmacist helped me pick out a brace. I didn't think it'd work, so I wore it around the pharmacy for a bit. To my surprise, it really did help ease the pain. So I picked up two - one for each knee. I also got some suggestions on strength training and stretches for both my hips and my knees. I'm going to start them today. I am determined to become pro-active in helping this heal rather than let it become a full blown injury that sidelines me.

That all being said, I am not running today. I am frustrated by this a little bit. But I need to focus on what's important.

It's that simple. Yes, I know the issues I have with running again after a day off. But I'm just going to have to fight those demons as they come up. Right now I need to do what is best for my knee. Even though I took Sunday off, I am taking Tuesday(today) off too.

So what can I do to keep my momentum up?
emoticon Carefully plan my menu for today. Fuel not padding
emoticon think of other ways to get my movement in for today. A walk? Bike ride? Hmm. So many options.
emoticon Be ready to fight my way through a difficult run tomorrow
emoticon Stay hydrated

    The knee braces are a good temporary solution, but you have to be careful with any type of brace. If you wear one too much the muscles underneath can actually weaken from disuse.

    If running hurts, then maybe walking or biking is a better option. You certainly don't want to get hurt to the point where you can't do any of them.
