Wow! Middle of July already!

Monday, July 15, 2013

I know I been away for a while... not a lot to say but I was thinking-- how many are going to post today about the reveal of the new Twinkie (or return of)... How many will feel obligated to buy one?

I don't like to gear my blogs around food but cakes/cookies/sweets have been minimal since my surgery 15 months ago.. I feel wonderful and would never go back to who I was before.

My eating is geared towards protein first then veggies and fruits and then if I am still hungry, carbs.

My hurdle now is getting into an exercise routine..taking baby steps here!

No twinkies for me either! If I start on the sugar/carbs I go out of control. So when are you going to post pictures of the new you?? And, could you let me know, what kind of fruits do you eat? Some are high in carbs and sugar. As for me, it's usually berries. Take care, my friend..

Hi Tracey! I have been wondering about you lately and of how you are doing. Hadn't heard anything from you for awhile on team 300+. I happened to see that you commented on someones blog on my friend feed so thought I would stop in and say hi. I am proud of you for continuing your lifestyle change after the devastation of Sandy. I saw a segment on television about hurricanes and it showed Sandy. I think that people that do not live in those areas have no idea what you went through. I live in Wisconsin and after I hear about what happens in other parts of the world I have come to believe that Wisconsin is just about the safest place on earth. So I am proud of you my dear friend and I hope to hear a lot more about you and your journey in the future. Becky. emoticon

Great to hear from you. Love that you are showing the mindset of someone who has made a lifestyle change, not doing something for a quick fix. Good for you!

Not a twinkie fan HOWEVER saw adorable cupcakes that look like the minions from Despicable ME and they each use a half twinkie. (go ahead, google them). Now I want twinkies to make cute little cupcakes. I'm sure once I did I would need to eat them of course. Best to try to put it out of my mind.

Good to hear from you! I never was a Twinkie fan, and I'm also on a specialized diet now. The thought of a Twinkie wouldn't even cross my mind!
I work in a convenience store and my vendor told me they probably won't be very good anyway. The company that's making them ships them frozen, and they will have a stale taste.

Twinkies? Who cares?? Not me! Not you!
If you think about it, refraining from buying foods that support companies that don't really care about our health and only their profits means you are spending money far more ethically.

Great to hear things are going so well. I don't have much of an urge for any cakes or cookies anymore. I think I've finished carb detox. Just thinking about the amount of junk in a Twinkie makes me cringe!

emoticon Trust me.... it won't taste as good as you remember. I haven't gotten one, and I don't intend on it. But I know from the past, that when I have broke down and eaten one, it wasn't nearly as good as it was when I was a kid. Our taste-buds get old, just like we do, and things taste different to us now, than when we were kids.

I just think of it as, I'm a grown up now, so I eat grown up food... that simple.

Congrats on your weightloss. Keep it up, and you'll be at goal before you know it!

I didn't know that Twinkies were returning. I never liked Twinkies so I won't be purchasing these. I need to start exercising too. It's a real hurdle for me. It is so hot and humid here. I get fatigued going outside and back in the house right away. We will have to motivate each other.

No, I won't be trying them. "One is too many and a thousand is never enough." That goes for a lot of other foods too, LOL!

Always great to hear from you!

Baby steps ate fine, just remember to take them every day. Do you wear a pedometer? I do, 24/7. you just keep it in your pocket and it registers your steps accurately! Mine is made by Omron. It has a handy tether that you can connect to your clothing, to prevent loss!

Long time no see! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well.

I never really liked twinkies in the first place so I don't feel the need to try them now that they're back.

You are doing really well Tracy, good on you. emoticon
With exercise slowly is good. Listen to your body and do what
it tells you. You might start off with five minutes one day and bit by bit you just build it up. Walking is great, and that is good to do what you are able to do. The more you do it the longer you will be able to walk for. and the easier it will be.
I don't think we have twinkees in NZ. But we have plenty of foods that we should not have too much off. We have great fruit too and vegetables. And good fresh drinking water. Even though I don't drink much water in this cold weather.
Keep up the amazing work Tracy emoticon emoticon
