Do or Do Not Do

I am getting real today! I lost forty pounds two years ago for my 50th birthday. I did not want to be a fat old woman. Somehow, being young made it more acceptable. I kept the weight off for a couple of years, but twenty pounds have crept back and will not disappear. Of course, I have a lot of excuses. Arthritis, busy schedule, long commute, etc... I have come to the realization that "trying" is not getting it done. The extra weight makes my arthritis worse, and I feel like doing less. "Motion is lotion." The more I move the more I want to move, the less I move, the more weight I gain and the worse I feel. Exercise needs to be an every morning thing for me. As the day goes on the excuses mount! I also need to adjust the number of calories I am consuming. As we get older, our metabolism slows and we need less calories. I know this, but have not gotten the correct balance yet. Spark people provides a great tool for calorie counting and I use it daily. Next year, I turn 55. I am going to use this milestone as another goal date for me. That gives me a little over a year to get back to where I want to be! Failure is not an option!
