Streaking and My Nutri-Bullet
Friday, July 12, 2013
Today is day 168 of getting 8+ glasses of water, tracking my nutrition and spinning the log-in wheel.
I've worked out more than 90 minutes per week for 26 weeks.
I've walked more than 10 miles per week for 23 weeks.
This morning, I used my new Nutri-Bullet (blender/food processor). I made a morning smoothie with kale, peaches, protein powder, a tablespoon of honey and a little bit of milk. It came out pretty tasty and kept me full from breakfast up to lunch. This came in handy as I accidentally left my other snacks at home so I was glad I didn't need a mid-morning snack.
The Nutri-Bullet is cool because it allows you to liquify the likes of kale while simultaneously blending the rest of the ingredients. You could probably blend peaches pretty well in a normal blender but kale is a lot tougher. To make a kale smoothie in my blender, I'd probably have to juice the kale and then add the juice to the other ingredients. In addition to adding labor to the process, I would miss out on the fiber the kale has to offer. With the Nutri-Bullet (or some similar high powered device), you get the nutrients and the fiber.
The blending chamber is essentially a big cup that you can detach and cover with a lid. Therefore, you can mix and go pretty quickly. Really ideal for a breakfast on the go. I love eggs but I've been a bit bored of having them everyday so I'm really glad I discovered the Nutri-bullet!

I love my NutriBullet like many of you. Before i got it the only veggies I ate were side dishes on a plate or in salads, the only fruit I had was usually as part of some dessert,or had one thing or another to do with alcoholic beverages. I may not be losing weight as fast as i wish but i know for sure i am eating healthier because I have 1-3 NutriBullet drink a day (90% in the tall cup) I am still experimenting with what combinations of freggies I like. Kale is not one of my favorites...but I use spinach, spring mix, swiss chard, and watercress a lot. I am always looking for new recipes....especially for green drinks. So any suggestions are always welcome. BTW Does anyone else here ever have an issue with making NutriBullets using green leafy veggies, plus fruit but ending up with a green/brown colored drink instead of a bright green one?

The Nutri-Bullet seems to be the new craze. I have seen many people here on SP talking about it ( that sounds kind of weird doesn't it - like do you think I really see and hear you?! I do - in my head. Some would question my sanity if they knew this - LOL! )
You have been rather quiet here in the blog room. Hope your month is going as planned in ALL areas of your life

My sister swears by hers, I should probably break down and get one. I eat a lot of smoothies and there are several things that the blender doesn't do a great job with.
Great work on the streaks!

I also enjoy smoothies, for breakfast and sometimes for lunch. I have not been as adventurous as you or others in terms of adding veggies to them. Usually I have some fresh fruit, some frozen fruit and either Greek yogurt, peanut butter or cottage cheese for protein.

Great job on your streaking success! I just got all my water in for the first time in several weeks- don't know why that is always such a challenge for me.
I have been hearing so much about smoothies lately that I have been thinking about making an investment in something to make them. I haven't made the leap yet, but it is always interesting to hear reviews from others.

Sounds like a good investment to shake up the morning routine. Good work on the streaks! I seem to forget to spin the doggone wheel a couple times a week, so I will never reach your epic streak length!

I love smoothies for breakfast! When I have extra kale that is going to go bad soon, I blend it up and freeze it in ice cube trays so that it stays fresh for more smoothies!

I *LOVE* my Magic Bullet (same thing as a nutri-bullet)!! I make shakes often with it. In fact, I just finished off a shake whilst reading this article. I like to mix frozen fruit, milk, a little sweetener and a couple drops of vanilla together and voila! A delicious, nutritious shake. I have been known to mix mine really, really thick.

Ive got a few recipes for smoothies w/ kale and they suggest blending it with water, almond milk, or coconut water first. Nice to know I can throw it in my bullet without the extra step!
Way to go on your streaks!
