on day 4 now, doing ok

Friday, July 12, 2013

I've stuck to my diet! Plus yesterday I got an entire hour of cardio in! I went to the gym and did power walking for 60 minutes on the treadmill. I did power walking instead of jogging because I knew I could do it longer and because it was enough to get me into the fat burning zone of my heart rate range. Since I'm pretty out of shape, it does take much to get my heart beat to 132 bpm and fast walking is enough (about 3.2 mph).

i'm sticking to mostly lean meat (chicken) and lots of water. I'm getting over a gallon each day, which is 128 ounces, and I could even stand to get more. In the past I notice that water is the #1 influence on weight loss for me. It doesn't completely eliminate the cravings but it reduces them by 90%.

Today I finally started to feel a surge of productivity, which is a good feeling since I've been down and unproductive and feeling crappy till now. I'm sure that my mood is influenced highly by the food I eat but it is so hard to remember that that is not an instant relationship--it really takes a few days to see a difference. Carbs really put me in the dumps, though, or at least put the brakes on a bit. Again, not instantly but over time.

I'm sure it helps that I'm not drinking alcohol at all, too. Total for week one I'm down 3 lbs, which seems like a lot for a week but usually week 1 is a big loss week for me, so I'm hoping to get over 5, especially since I am so high on the scale. I try not to be impatient but it's hard to help it at this point.

I'm going to try to get back to the gym to do another hour or power walking today. The gym I am using is at a college and it is shut down on weekends over the summer, so this is my last chance till Monday to use a treadmill. (Maybe I can do a long bike ride over the weekend?)

Anyway I'll head over there after I have another bunch of water. It seems like I am ready to workout daily around 2pm. So I'm listening to my body and going with it.

Ok hope everyone is having a good day!
