It's Friday... but...

but... I have to work tomorrow, too. So it's not quite as "freeing Friday" as a typical work week cubicle grunt Friday. They have given us permission to dress down for the remainder of the summer, so it's not even "jeans day" as jeans day is now an every day thing on our project. Except on Saturday and Sunday, when they have the A/C turned way down or even off, it's shorts and tank top day for me! (btw, my workplace does NOT allow working from home for this stuff. They did order me a fan.)

So... still randomizing thoughts... I was awake in the night last night. Too much coffee during the day yesterday? Or too much mental stimulation? This is the phase of coding, where I wake up with lines / patterns / approaches in my head... when the chatter of work invades my nights.

I do my best to erase the slate and go back to sleep, but it doesn't always work. I remember doing the better sleep challenge and know that even just keeping my eyes closed and "resting" is better than nothing. Still, I'm having a slow start morning.

That said, even in slow motion, the lunch/snack bag is packed. emoticon The breakfast has been consumed. The coffee is being sipped from the Spark mug.

Reminders to self: drink that water, it's gonna be another hot one outside.

Go to recess... walking away for a few minutes gives the brain a chance to catch up to the typing fingers. emoticon

Enjoy your book... it too gives the subconscious brain time to catch up. emoticon

And take the time to evaluate and prioritize... there's only so much can be done in the time you have... just make sure what you are working on are the most important pieces! emoticon

And tomorrow the sun will rise, too. LIFE is good. Live it fully. Spark on! emoticon

    OT without AC? Hmmmmmmm. I admire the way you are keeping your spirits up and taking good care of yourself. Like you I have times when my work invades my dreams . . .

    emoticon Sometimes my brain goes into overload. What works for me is I keep a notepad and pen on my nightstand. When I wake up with all of those unwanted thoughts that are keeping me from my emoticon I write them down. I have been doing this for the last 10 plus years, so once I write it down I am able to go back to my peaceful emoticon .

    Sounds like you are doing some good planning. Sorry about the weekend work. emoticon emoticon

    Working in retail management for the last 10+ years, I don't know what a "weekend" feels like! I'm lucky to get 2 days off in a row anytime during the week. I do look forward to my Sunday's off, though, that's when I relax and slow down.

    Otherwise, its the daily reminders that keep me on track as well. Thanks for the great example!

    For me, evaluate and prioritize is the hardest
    thing to do when DH has other items he thinks
    need to be done first. If he were the one under
    the gun, he might think differently.
    Hope the day goes well. Too bad you have
    to work tomorrow but you knew this was coming.

    Too bad you have to work on Saturday. That's awful that the a/c is down or off on the weekends if you have to work. Hope you get the fan soon. Good reminders.

    I hate it when work invades my sleep. I can tell it's been a stressful day when I come home & dream work! Sounds like you've got good strategies to combat work invading to the point of takeover, tho. Great job!
