Day 11 of the Summer Challenge

You know, sometimes it takes a while for a thought or realization to "click"...I had one of those moments yesterday.

You know, like one of those "connect the dots" moments.

Like "If I eat this...I will end up looking/feeling like that"....or "If I continue to do, or not do such and such ...the result will be such and such."

When there is a disconnect with what you are doing and the results you want to is a problem. I guess we are really good at fooling ourselves. Yes - there are health factors that come into play, but I am talking about when you have a CHOICE!

DO YOU CHOOOOOSE the best for yourself? Or do you fool yourself into thinking that "just this once won't matter"?
Problem the end of the day...the "just this once" instances add up.
I have said this before and I will say it again, unless you have your MINDset in the right place, it's hard to stick to EXTERNAL RULES. They work for a while ( like a 30 Day challenge) ...but the goal is to make them internal.

I have discussed this before.

Can you think of an instance when you "connected the dots"...or faced up to the truth about your nutrition and health choices?

Can you identify a habit that you need to pick apart to get to the root of the reason why you do them? Will you make a choice, do you keep the habit ( and forfeit your goal...) or do you happily give up the habit to be the person you really want to be without doubt and guilt?

AND MAY DAY 11 be one of GOOD CHOICES because we are worth it and we are not defined by our mistakes. It's not about perfection, it is about progress!

    Conquered day 11. No sugar and went to the state park with a friend and hiked around 8 miles. Some jogging in there, but the trails were not great for that.

    On the connecting the dots...
    I have a long list of food allergies and despite knowing them I struggle with eliminating them all. When I was super strict with them and was eating cleanly, it took those moments when I decided to break and have a little to notice what they actually do to my body. I am not perfect with it and it angers me that despite "knowing and feeling" the effects of the foods, I can STILL consume them at all. Working on it!

    The challenge really helps staying accountable.

    Great picture - cool earrings!
    When the dots connect and it "clicks" it can make all the difference. When doing the Plan it was made painfully clear that wheat is not my friend and since eliminating it I have reached my goal weight. Now I only occasionally indulge when I am willing to pay the price (bloat, weight gain)
    My other trigger is stress at work - I reach for peppermint candy automatically. Why?? I can only compare it to someone smoking, having to have a cigarette when stress hits... Something to work on.

    I like the way you put it Mel! For the longest time I was fooling myself too! Life is all about taking chances, making mistakes and LEARNING the right things to do to acheive the results we want!

    You will never get to a different place in your life by taking the same roads everytime!

    Great picture!
    For me the problem used to be too many 'just this once' moments in the same day. If I can limit it to one, and a small amount, I'm usually OK. But the moments in one day add up. emoticon
