Dear Mind… emoticon
After reading “Letter to my body…” by MSANITAL (June 6, 2013), I realize that I need to speak with you. emoticon

I know you have been working hard all these seventy-one plus years to adapt to what goes on around me, emoticon but now I want to sit down with you for a minute to prepare a plan together. emoticon

First, let’s get in the right frame of mind.
1.Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); emoticon
2.Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; emoticon
3.Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
– 1 Thessalonians 5;16-18

Second, let’s pray:

Our GOD, praise You for being so faithful and unconditionally loving us! Thank You for providing all that is needed for living here on earth and for growing in godliness. Thank You for making us just as we are! Please help guide this talk and plan. Amen

I want us to get after those thoughts that rattle around inside. emoticon emoticon Every one needs to be brought into captivity. What? Imprisonment you say? Yes, each idea needs testing to decide if it may stay. No provisions for it may be made until it proves worthy. Now, Mind, you know that you have the key to what is going to come out my mouth or get done with my body. So, listen up. We must work together! emoticon
“For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.
For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,
[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),”
– 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
As you can see, we cannot do any refuting, proper reasoning or even planning until we capture each thought and purpose. Here’s what I’m hoping you will agree to do with me: As a guard at the gates, check each idea’s identity. Now that is hard work and time consuming, I know. But it is vital. We cannot allow rogue thoughts to come in, take up residence and eat us out of house and home, taking strength from the thoughts that are just beginning to develop.
“…whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
- Philippians 4:8
These are the thoughts that have permission to remain to be nourished and nurtured.

For now, could we try this together? Good. Thanks for being willing to help me follow hard after the LORD! emoticon

Thank you so much. It did indeed help me. The right mindset... which is to focus on God and His Will... is the only path to peace of mind and a blessed life.

Wonderful blog! Thank you so much for sharing your sweet heart. I totally agree, if we can just get control of our thoughts we can get control of our actions.

Going a step further instead of us working so hard to control our thoughts I fully believe God can do it in us, for surely as it says in Phil 2:13, "He works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure." and then He gets all the glory.

Here is a verse of scripture I really like. Proverbs 16:3 "Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established."

And that takes me to this verse of scripture, Col 3:17, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

If I keep the law or in other words if my works are good and I do them joyfully out of love for God, myself and others, with an eye single to His glory, then they can be considered in the name of the Lord. Why? Because Love is the fulfilling of the law and Jesus fulfilled the law. We want to follow Him.

But if we keep a law with a doubtful, grudging heart or out of double mindedness, (wanting even a little bit of glory for ourselves) it cannot be considered in His name. Even though the law is right and good, the spirit is essential.

Without the spirit of love in our hearts we cannot please God with our works. We must purify our motives. Our motives are of all importance.
