Organized Ride

Sunday, July 07, 2013

Took part in an organized ride yesterday. The plan was to do the 100-miler, however, my Garmin stopped functioning. I'm a data junkie. I must know the pace, the distance, and the time. Not having that information makes me very uneasy so, I decided to do the 70-miler. Overall, it was a great ride. I got the time and distance from another close by finisher and figured my speed to be close to 18 MPH. Considering the elevation climb in excess of 3,000, and the 90+ degree temperature, I was very content with the results. Forget about the nutrition. I was so hungry after finishing. I just kept on eating and eating. I considered it a just reward for a hard ride. HOOAAA!!

I'm the same way with the data on rides. Sunday my watch quit showing a feature I use quite a bit...the time! I had to stop focusing on the fact that I didn't know the time and just focused on the ride. Technology is awesome when it works. What did we do before iPhones, GPS, HRM etc?
