First virtual 5K

Wow...it's a good day! 5+ years ago I attempted a 5K and trained with a friend who ran regularly. The training was tough and I thought I was very wimpy because i just could not beat my own time after training for 8 months!!!! Race day was a disaster, when i couldn't breath during the race. I finished with my friends encouragement, but saw the doctor shortly after. Not a big deal, but NOW i understood.....I had exercise induced asthma. Tried an inhaler, and my heartrate soared so no more of that.
As i began Sparking, I wondered if I trained more slowly on my own, and worked to not push very hard, that i might be able to meet my own goal of jogging a 5K and just tracking my own time.....my goal was just to finish with no inhaler (and the bonus was with no stopping).
I trained the Sparkpeople 8 week training program and ran today. I had been training outdoors and my last training day was 91 degrees outside and i was still walking during my run.
Raceday is today and I am psyched! Indoors, with the air conditioning, on my treadmill, I was able to run the 3.1 without stopping and completed my run in 36min 19seconds!
For me, that is a VERY GOOD DAY!
