Branching Out

We have a TOPS challenge going on now with our chapter. It consists of a list of things to do such as trying a new exercise, new vegetable, or a new fruit, and other things. You get points for each item on the list that you complete. This week I tried a new fruit. It's amazing. There are other types of melons besides water melon, honey dew, and cantaloupe. I tried a casaba melon. It's about the same size as a cantaloupe. It's yellow and has a thicker rind than a cantaloupe. It has a smooth wrinkly skin with creases that run from top to bottom. You eat it the same way you would eat a cantaloupe. You whack it in half, scrape out the seeds, cut it into wedges, and peel it. Or, you can just eat it out of the rind like I did. It is a very pale green inside. It's sweet and has a mild cucumber taste. It doesn't have a lot of calories either. 1 wedge, (1/12 of a melon) only has 40 calories. I ate half the melon so that is only 240 calories. I actually liked it. I would eat it again. It's kinda fun to branch out and try new things and breaks up the monotony of eating the same things all of the time.
