Attack of the 14" Fruit Pizza

Saturday, July 06, 2013

I made a fruit pizza for the 4th. This is a concoction consisting of a sugar cookie dough crust, cream cheese frosting and sliced fruit on top. It was extremely sweet and my party guests did not eat that much of it. No worries! I polished off the rest over the next 24 hours, single-handedly.

And, yes, my blood sugar shot to the moon as a result. I enjoyed every minute of the eating part but the aftermath was not good at all! I had to take a long nap (induced by high sugar numbers) and then drank water at the next day's party, only. (I consider that an NSV as I really enjoyed the company and my giant glass of ice water.) I did enjoy this treat and kept the damage to one 24-hour period.

I learned that summer party guests like beer, grilled meat, cold fruit slices and ketchup. The rest is really unnecessary. As for me, I don't make treats like this very often and with good reason. It's behind me now, time to look ahead.

(Oh, and the mosquitoes enjoyed me greatly as I am covered with July 4th mosquito bites. Ouch! Another reason to watch the sugar intake - less appealing to bugs!)

Spunky, Way to own it and then get on with the lesson. I too know I have to cut back on making that kind of stuff because it really does no good for me or for geusts which usually are family. And yes I usually am the person that finishes it off. So lately I try to send home the left overs with my boys. But one of them are dieting also so that is not being good to him. So you are on the right track and we will be on that track together!
