A Garden Freak Out

Friday, July 05, 2013

Our yard/garden has exploded into waist high weeds and grasses. Ds16, who was my main gardener has exploded into very bad pollen allergies and is excused, perhaps permanently from all yard duties. Dd11 isn't too much help because she complains so much that I find it more relaxing to do it without her (which undoubtedly was her intent). She does help some when she wants to earn some money for pulling weeds. Dh is working two jobs. We don't have the money to hire anyone to do it. So that leaves me - freaking out. I am almost at panic attack status when I look out there.

I think I'm going to take my Zumbatical and tackle the yard if I can. Do they sell blinders for people? Perhaps if I wear blinders and work on one small area of the garden at a time I won't hyperventilate.

I am planning on spending some money. I need to hire a guy with a stump grinder to take care of the remains of our beautiful old Maple. And I need to order about 10 yards of mulch to put down on the (hopefully someday) weeded areas so that all the weeds don't come back.

I work on my garden in sections so it isn't so daunting my main bug bear is mowing the lawn I find this so exhausting and it makes my arms ache for days usually JJ does it but he only comes every 2 weeks and it was too wet to cut this week when Ians dad was over so hopefuly it will get done when Ian comes in tonight so he can lift the mower up the steps for me. Just do a little at a time and look at what HAS been done and not what is left to do you will get there xxx Carol xxx emoticon

Section off your yard and work in only one section at a time. Get one section cleaned up entirely then glory in your handiwork. It will make the project easier to manage (small areas are always easier to manage than large ones) and you'll get the "I did it" endorphin reward that will motivate you to keep going. emoticon
