Walking Early in the Morning

The blogs that I am writing these days are really for my own benefit.
They are keeping me focused on my goal of maintaining my healthful eating and exercising while I'm at the beach this month.

I am working out the details of how to make it happen - and as I do so, I will be writing my ideas down here.
These blogs can serve as reminders and motivators to me whenever I feel I need them.

Today, I got up and went walking for an hour at 6:30am.
I was surprised to see that there were real advantages to going out that early:
--The temperatures hadn't gotten too hot yet.
--There was lots more shade along the side of the road to walk in.
--There was hardly any traffic on the road.
--I liked having the walk over with in time for an early start to the rest of the day.

I realized, though, that on some mornings I would need something to spur me on to get out of bed that early -- especially since I am walking alone and don't have to meet up with anyone else.
I decided that I would download an audible book on my Kindle - perhaps a British mystery - something I could enjoy listening to while I walk.

    "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail," a frequently quoted admonition to management, but it's applicable for us as well...and you are so wise in your approach. Your desire for increasingly optimal wellness feels strong and focused. And I also love the affirmations you have on your SparkPage that also powerfully support this.

    Your book idea is great too. You can go so far as to make a particular mystery ONLY for walking, as further incentive for getting out there.

    emoticon My Very Favorite time to walk is Early in the Morning. It is quieter (except for Nature waking up) and just seems much more Peaceful than any other time.

    I don't want noise in my ears when I run, but I've found I enjoy music while walking. If an e-book does for you what a few tunes do for me, go for it!

    Great idea. Multitasking - getting some exercise and some relaxation at the same time. I kind of wish I had a Kindle now. LOL.

    Walking early is more relaxing and peaceful. It's my favorite exercise.

    I too write my blog entries for my own benefit and if they serve to motivate someone else, great. Your reasons for walking early just might get me out of bed to start a couple hours earlier myself. As it is, I'm out the door now....9:15am.
