Fiber One Bars are Evil, and Delicious, and Evil…

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

I have been seeing a nutritionist to try and figure out why my weight lose hasn’t been going as it should. Last month, I went to the gym 6 days a week, ate healthy, and lost half a pound. (that’s half a pound for the entire month).

Among other things she suggested that I start eating more protein right after my workouts. Because I bike commute in Arizona, carrying cheese and yogurt can be a problem. So she suggested I try protein snack bars.

That’s when I came across Fiber One’s Protein bars. They have 40 fewer calories than the other bars I’d tried, 7 grams of protein, and they were on sale. So I thought, “Score”.

However, last night I learned the terrible side effect, the one that has earned Fiber One bars the online nickname of, Fart Bars. emoticon

Needless to say, they will not become a part of my daily diet. And I will continue my search for an easy to carry, low calorie, protein source.

My gastro doc has no problem with my taking Beano or GasX if it helps me get my fibre. Actually once my body got used to increased fibre I no longer get the side effects. I cannot however have more than 9 or 10 gr at a time.

    Congrats on the bike commuting.

Bahahahaha! Been there --- done that. Almost all "bars" that claim fiber will be the same. I have to stay away from the too.
