Ugh tired..and thoughts on embracing fitness & health

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

emoticon So today I worked out at the gym. I went to zumba class and I have to say once you have back issues they are hard to get through. I was completely stiff during class whereas usually I am really moving in zumba. Also, I'm more tired than usual..hmm..not a good thing.

Anyway, after I got home, I watched parts of an episode of Extreme weight loss tv episode..something one of the people on the show who was trying to lose weight really struck a chord. He said he had to embrace health and the process in order to get to the point where he was achieving his goals. emoticon emoticon

I haven't thought about embracing the process as a necessity but it is definitely a necessity and I suppose if you embrace it, it becomes enjoyable as well..so finding healthy foods that make us happy and workouts that we look forward to and outside activities that are just pure fun..something to think about. emoticon

Finding exercise that you enjoy is a must! If it is enjoyable, you'll make the next essential step, which is to do it religiously. It's hard to get in that groove, but you WILL find what works and then nothing can get in your way. Or, rather, when things get in your way, as they inevitably will cuz it's life, then you will just work around them and KEEP GOING! Hang in there!!!

Eden I agree, I have found especially with my fitness that I need to do things that I enjoy doing, not just hard Cardio or ST. Because you can push yourself so far and then you will give up because you hate what you are doing. So I try hard now to do my work outs in a way I enjoy, weather that is location, class, time, activity, or variety makes a big difference with me and my work out attitude and embracing it. Thank you for the reminder, to not push to do something, but push to do what I enjoy and part of that for me is getting the right attitude on to start with.

I have thought about joining a zumba class, but that is as far as I have got!

This is so true, because once we get to goal, we need to continue eating healthy and being active. That is why we need to be able to continue this for the rest of our lives, and enjoy the foods and activities we do.

I tried Zumba and lasted about 6 minutes! It was fun but tiring. I commend you if you keep at it!

As far as embracing the process...do I have to? LOL. It is probably the only way to really make it!

I completely agree - personally, I think that if I didn't embrace the process and didn't find food and activities that I enjoy, I'd be 100% sure to fail.

As I love cooking, I really enjoy trying out new healthy recipes or challenging myself with a new dietary lifestyle (as I'm doing with Paleo.)
As for fitness, I'm sticking with what I love: BodyPump, Body Balance and Zumba, with a little swimming thrown on top.
My weeks are not very varied as far as workouts go, but at least, doing activities I love keeps me consistent.

Zumba is tough...fun...but tough. I'm not sure I would try it if I had back issues, but I'm kind of a wimp that way!
I hope you get to that place where it becomes enjoyable. I find it enjoyable when I'm seeing results...but when I'm on a plateau or bored...it just feels like work! I think I need to work on embracing the process as well.
