Plan for the Holiday

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I blogged about the potential for breaking My Streak this weekend when I go to my parents' house. However, I think I've come up with a plan that will allow me to keep My Streak alive!

I will be driving down to my parents' on Thursday and returning on Sunday. My usual schedule for those days would be:

Thursday: Fast Day, cardio and ST rest day
Friday: C25k and lower body ST
Saturday: Bike and upper body ST
Sunday: C25k and core ST

Since we won't be arriving at my parents' until the late afternoon, it should be no trouble to fast on Thursday as usual and then just have a small dinner with them. I'll be bringing my free weights with me, so getting in my ST shouldn't be a real issue either. The main challenge is cardio. My parents don't have a stationary bike, but they do have a VERY crappy treadmill.

I came up with an idea that should allow me to get all my cardio in for the week, though, by shuffling some things around. The plan now is to do my treadmill on Thursday before we leave and then have Friday be my cardio rest day. Then, since I will have had a day off from running on Friday, I can run again on Saturday on my parents' treadmill. And on Sunday, when I get home, I will do my bike. So basically I'm swapping my cardio rest day with my C25k on Thursday and Friday and then my bike with my C25k on Saturday and Sunday.

It will be my first time doing cardio on a Fast Day since starting 5:2, but I am hopeful I can make it work. Since I will be running in the morning, I think my body won't really have had a chance to even realize I'm fasting at that point. The only potential challenge is having the energy to make it through the rest of the day until dinner, but worst case, I can make Dan drive and I can sleep some in the car.

In other news, today was a BIG weigh-in day for me. I weighed in for the end of three DietBets, plus it was my weekly SparkPeople weigh-in. I am happy to report that I am at 220 pounds even now, which means I made it to Australian Onederland, won all three of my DietBets, and am still right on track with my plan to lose 1% of my body weight per week. Here's the latest chart of my progress as compared to my goal of 1% per week:

It's a little hard to see, but the red "Actual" line is tracking right on top of the blue "Goal" line right up to the 1st of July.

Sounds like a great plan! I think half the battle is having a plan and then even if it is not executed to perfection, you do far more than you would have done otherwise. SO excited to see your progress so far! emoticon
