The bagel

My breakfast this morning was a Luna Peanut Butter Protein bar. I've always had issues getting my required protein for the day, but I've found that ever since I've started eating one of these for breakfast, it's so much easier to meet my protein goal.

It helps that Luna Protein bars are really yummy. The first time I had one, I thought it was terrible. After the second one, I was addicted. I don't understand it either.

Anyway, after I ate my lovely breakfast bar, my skip level manager offered me a bagel. And not just any bagel - a 300 calorie melt-in-my-mouth asiago bagel from Panera.

Or at least I think it would melt in my mouth. I haven't had a Panera bagel in a while.

So sitting in my lunch bag tempting me is a bagel of cheesy goodness. I'll probably give it to my husband tonight, and maybe I'll even have a little bite.

If I wasn't counting calories, I would have devoured it. Seriously. And in a couple months, when I'm in maintenance mode, who knows?

But right now, I don't really need it. A bagel is just a bunch of tasty but empty carbs.

My Luna bar on the other hand, gave me protein and put a stop to my morning sugar and chocolate fix (gotta love my sweet tooth). And it was less calories.

Still, there's something about having a bagel taunting me in my lunch bag. Sigh...
