It's time to kick Ticker Fish

266. Again! I realize that this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. It's not temporary. I will have to consciously choose to exercise and eat in a healthy way for forever. And that is a good thing! It is the right way to live if I want to be happy and not have pain.

But obviously, watching Ticker Fish swim back and forth over the same 3 pounds is not very satisfying. So for the month of July, I am going to set some goals. Ticker Fish is going to get kicked 5 pounds to the right side of the ticker!

Goal 1: Improve my nutrition tracking. I've been tracking my intake, but for the month of July I'm going to measure every single item as if I were in a lab. I have called myself being honest, but obviously I'm not eating at the deficit that my tracker is indicating. The tracker can only show what I enter, so my data must be lacking in accuracy. I'm not going to decrease my target range, because I bet haven't been as low as I've thought. If I get super-serious with the measuring and have good data, and still don't make progress by the end of the month, then I will look at that.

Goal 2: Increase activity. Being off work and having easy days of classroom orientation have seriously reduced my daily activity level. That will change this month. And I've enjoyed the heck out of the exercise classes I've gone to in June, but now it is time to buckle down. Aerobics and strength training on a regular schedule, yoga every day without fail.

Reward: I really, really want some kind of pretty belly-dance item like the other women in my class. I'm very serious and low-visibility in my daily life, but dangit, I want something spangly and twirly! For each time I go to the health club and work out, or do a complete video at home, I'll put a dollar in a jar. Every five miles I walk, another dollar. Each day I track my food precisely, another dollar. This isn't money I would spend anyway, because I can't imagine putting money down on something so frivolous. But I want it! Something awesome with beads and fringe and jingle-bits! In some really poisonously bright color not found in nature! Something really nice and well-made, in my size. At the end of the month, I will take whatever is in the jar and start looking.

The other reward will be seeing Ticker Fish moving in the correct direction.
