I Ran Like a Girl

Monday, July 01, 2013

So, today was DAY ONE of my new goal to run a 5K in 8 weeks. I have found that I really respond to set goals.

The plan was to walk for four minutes, then jog for one minute, and repeat that until I did it a total of four times. I did achieve it, and I was slightly appalled at how difficult it was for me to jog for a lousy minute -- but I did it. That's the important part.

Here is what I learned:

1) I need a better sports bra, because the girls were just not enjoying themselves.

2) There are all kinds of neighbors out and about in the evenings, and I enjoy that.

3) It may "only" be 85 degrees outside, but DANG THAT'S HOT!

4) I used to enjoy running, and quit doing it when I got fat. It's too bad, because it turns out I still enjoy it, and I am looking forward to doing more of it.

I did it. I'm so glad I did. I feel good about myself, and I rewarded myself with a huge CHILLED glass of water I left in the freezer while I was out on my jog. Mmmm, refreshing!

Get out there and do whatever activity you have chosen for yourself this week. You won't regret it! emoticon
