Rain, Rain, and More Rain....

Sunday, June 30, 2013

Yes, rain. Yesterday was a totally bizarre day - 60% chance of rain. I did some gardening in the morning, and it got all dark.......I went inside to do stuff there...no rain......I do the grocery shopping, convinced that I'm going to get drenched transferring my groceries to the car at Save-A-Lot.....no rain. So, after putting away the groceries and having lunch, I decide to go mow the front lawn. Sky gets dark and it starts to sprinkle. I go inside.....No rain.....WTF?!! The weatherman is clamoring about all the rain we're going to get. We get nothing....zip...nada! So at 3:30, I go out and mow the front lawn. Still no rain. Actually, I don't think we got any rain at all until today. emoticon

This morning, I did some gardening - cleared out the first three rows of beans that are finished; trimmed leaves off the tomato plants, and removed the spent squash plants. Next weekend, I'll amend the soil in preparation of Fall planting. It's raining right now, but I'll try to get some pictures of the pumpkin plants, cucumbers and peppers - they're doing extremely well! emoticon

The rest of the afternoon was spent at my friend, Tricia's house. She's been working hard on making her back yard an oasis, and it's coming along quite nicely! She just had a nice, big patio build with pavers, and is finally using her gas grill. Once you get used to using one, it's an addiction!

About an hour before I left Tricia's, the thunder beings made themselves heard, and down came the rain! And it's been raining pretty much since.

I was pretty lazy with dinner tonight. I put chicken breasts, chopped onion, and red potatoes in a dutch oven, drizzled them with olive oil and seasoned with Cavendar's, and put it in the oven for two hours. That works! emoticon

Now, I plan on doing little more than getting another glass of lemonade and getting some sleep in a little while - Tomorrow is a work day, after all.

Could you maybe send some of that rain here to California? We're having 100+ heat, and we could seriously use some relief.

It rained BUCKETS down here...luckily we were in the movie theatre and I had packed my umbrella in my purse. Went to see "The Heat" with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCartney...what a hoot. And the vulgarities that flew out of Melissa's characters mouth...whew baby! emoticon Could make a red necker..blush! emoticon But loved the movie...thoroughly enjoyable fun...and this is FUN x 2...last night with the Saturday night group was amazingly fun too. Hope to keep the FUN run...rolling...one more day off work..then the fun turns hot and sticky! emoticon Oh...how I hate FL in the summertime...no a/c should be against the law! At least we have the air up front...but shoppers don't shop when they are wilting! emoticon I have tropical music playing...maybe I should start giving them a Mai Tai at the front door! emoticon Howdy and thanks for coming...have a drink and you won't even mind the heat! emoticon emoticon
