Thought and Prayer for Sunday, June 30, 2013

Sunday, June 30, 2013

There are so many times we give up before we get done. We have many reasons for giving up but when we give up and give in to temptation, we are moving backward instead of forward. There will always be temptations in life. There will always be something that we see that we want to do that is not in line with what God wants us to do. Endurance pays off when we are patient while we are going through hard times and when we resist temptation. There is no excuse for giving into temptation that is acceptable to God.

James 1:12 “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know that we can only resist temptation when we make our minds up to live completely for You. We need to study Your word more. We need to fellowship with other believers more. We need to pray and meditate on You more. Help us today, Lord. Work through us to guide us to endure testing and temptation and begin a plan today to build our firm foundation with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

There is no excuse for giving into temptation that is acceptable to God.

When we plan ahead by reading God’s word, spending daily time with Him and praying to Him in all things, we will be able to endure testing and temptation.

Testing is when someone checks to see if we understand something and if are applying what we have learned. How do we pass tests from God?

When we patiently endure testing and temptation, our rewards will be waiting on us in Heaven.

God doesn’t tempt us to do wrong. However, He sometimes tests us to see if we are ready to follow Him unconditionally.

James 1:13 “And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, ‘God is tempting me.’ God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else.” (NLT)
