finally getting ready to go to NY

It's been a long couple of weeks, but Monday we are driving to NY to visit my mom. I've been talking to her on the phone most nights unless she is just to tired to chat. She's still not in too much pain, in fact when she does have some pain she calls it her arthritis. She asked my sister what her prognosis is and now knows all the details of her illness and the outlook. When she asked if she would ever go home, my sister explained when she was strong enough she would need to go somewhere where she could get 24 hour care. She is so weak she can barely walk a few steps and can't take care of herself anymore.
I continue to lose some weight, but must admit I am not focused on it. Sometimes I do indulge in an ice cream, as I have had a few cravings for it. The doctor prescribed an anti anxiety medicine for me and one of the side effects is either weight loss or gain. Luckily, I am enjoying the weight loss instead of gain.
Thanks for all the support. I have been watching the challenge and congratulations to all my friends who are doing so well. Soon I'll get back into checking on you and giving you all my encouragement.

    Take care of things with your mom and then you can go back and focus on yourself. But at the same time try not to use this as an excuse for poor nutrition, if you can get some cardio in it will help with your stress.

    Keep your energy for yourself and your family where it is most needed at the moment. Eat well, including icecream , emoticon but also, be sure to pay attention to good nutrition to support yourself through the tough emotional times ahead. It can be difficult especially when you are travelling and staying away from home, but keep up the high quality protein. It will help to see you through.
