Broken Mirror - New Poem

~Broken Mirror~

Your words they tear at my skin
Yet I continue to let you in

Then you grab me by the throat
You hold me down and won't let go

Now I'm just stuck here
looking into this broken mirror

I scream, as you drag me across the floor
I've lost the girl I was before

My voice, it shakes
There's nothing left for you to take

Oh, why do I still fear
this ridiculous broken mirror

I wish I could just run away
Find somewhere that I feel safe

But I know I can't hide from you
'Cause you'll find me like you always do

I finally figured it all out
I'm just too scared to say it out loud

This broken mirror is where I find my enemy
But now I realize that it's me.

So I didn't wanna say anything about the poem before hand because I wanted it's true meaning to kind of be a surprise. I wanted you to read it and see all these terrible things that are happening to this person and be horrified, only to find out that the person is the one causing these things. There is a quote that says something like, "if you talked to your friends like you talk to yourself you would have no friends" and I think that is so true. The poem is meant to show that we are our own worst enemy.

There is so much truth to the words written in that poem! I think the message is crystal clear and doesn't necessarily need to be explained but sometimes, people aren't sure so I can see why you wrote a small explanation. :)

    Keep writing! :)
