Summer Time and the Livings Queasy

It was 114 yesterday and 113 is predicted for today. It never really cools off over night now, and I miss turning off the air conditioner and opening up the house. Our electric and water bills have sky rocketed as a result. The dog and the cats can be found stretched out on the cool tile floors or in front of the fan passed out - I think they are the smart ones.
Battling the heat makes everyone cranky, tired and worn out. The simplest chores, work and errands become a pain in your gritty, sweaty neck. This has been a very long week.
When my husband and I left for our early morning walk this morning the air felt humid, dense and already hot. We were sweating in no time and neither one of us was enjoying the sticky humidity. The walk was mostly uneventful, we were chugging our way through it, more than ready to be done. That is until the last 10 minutes of the walk when we were treated to the most stunning sun rise! Brilliant hues of pink, rose and vermillion lit up the sky through the clouds and took our breath away. That fantastic display we were treated to more than made up for the heat and humidity. Plus, there is the wonderful promise of rain in the near future.
