A Whole New Me

Thursday, June 27, 2013

At least it almost felt that way today.

After the mega-dose of day 1 of prednisone taken last night (3 @ dinner, 3 a few hours later, as opposed to spread out all day with each meal and bedtime!), it seems to have TREMENDOUSLY reduced the inflammation - almost just 'overnight'!!! Of course, also still took a flexeril last night, and Tylenol 2x so far today.

I was walking erect today! & mostly pain-free depending on how I moved/stretched/turned. I just felt almost brand new by comparison to Sunday night thru yesterday evening!

So glad I followed my own advice (thru the mouths of half of my coworkers) and went to urgent care. I guess I should have gone Tuesday night, but was hoping one more night with flexeril was going to do the trick.

So... feeling as good as I do... what do I do but get stuck at work making it about an 11.75 hour day! More than made up for being slow moving and late yesterday and this morning! But now... I feel so good, but know I still need to take it easy.

I think what I'm going to do... after 3 full days of total inactivity (was basically crippled, after all). I'm going to go 'gently' ride on hubby's recumbent bike in the den... tablet in-hand (Kindle app - back to Dresden series), and new phone streaming music thru my portable stereo speakers. I'm NOT going to go full force, but feel I need to do SOMETHING or I'm really going to be set back. & honestly, even tho' it ranks as a decent calorie burn in a recent SP article I read, I'm NOT going to go 'full force' or even 'half assed'... I'm just going to 'cruise along' on a 'joy ride'! & yup, I will stop if I feel any discomfort whatsoever. (will remember to bring a nice throw pillow to add a lil' cushion for da tush!)

So, what do YOU feel good about today?!?!? (remember, side effects of "inappropriate happiness" are NOT necessarily a bad thing - they were sure fun to discuss at work all day!)

I'm very glad that you feel better! Yes, prednisone can make a person very wired; good job on undertaking your activity carefully! I hope you heal soon and that you enjoy your Friday fun.

Did you enjoy the inappropriate happiness? lol. I kept wondering if that meant finding pet fur on the floor hilarious, or just laughing too loud at unfunny jokes!

Take it easy on the bike!

I feel pretty good about my exercise today :) I had a really poor burn on the bike, but decided to add extra time again. I went for a full hour this time, and finished nearly 11 miles. That's not too shabby!

I am glad you are feeling so much better! I was a little worried about you with all the pain you were in and the side effects of you medication. emoticon

Be careful and don't re-injure yourself. People often do too much when the medication takes away the pain for a while. You are in a process of healing.

I did - only did 22mins and did not take it over 16mph or whatever the pace measures ;) Got some reading in... but really noticed how badly the stuff out in the den needs to be cleaned up! There was dust about an inch thick on the stuff to the right of the bike that I set my phone on LOL

I'll likely just do the same tonight, just to get the blood flowing well again, and well, because it's Friday Night Crazy Crew dining... and I'm gonna suggest Bojangles LOL Yeah, a 305 cal grilled chicken salad, and a deadly biscuit with about the same cals, just sounds delish LOL Wonder if I could avoid the biscuit, and do dirty rice instead. half the cals and one of my fave things... but gah... not sure I could eat ALL that much, we'll see how their salad is!

Will definitely have to avoid the ol' bo berry biscuits (maybe bring ONE home safely to have for b'fast before MAYBE getting to MOW again tomorrow!!! surely I could handle doing at least one yard tomorrow - I'll pick the easiest - front, maybe).
