The Gym

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

So last night, I joined the gym! I have not ever plunked down so much money on myself before! I am excited/ feeling slightly guilty about this- but I remember and thanks to my sister it was an important expenditure!

This morning I met with the personal trainer to get my program started. He went over my goals, talked about where I wanted to go, what I am currently doing- then it was to the tough stuff: weigh in and body fat measure!!!

So my weigh-in placed me at 225- which solidifies that I have maintained a loss of 15 lbs this year!
My body-fat % came in at 39% emoticon (Holy crap!!! was my initial feeling)
My BMI- still states I am at 34.4 (which happens to be what SP says too)

He then dug in a little deeper- calculated that my total fat is 88lbs! My lean muscle though is 137 lbs!

So my dig in realized that there is good and bad going on! He suggested dropping down to 150 would be a little crazy with my muscle weight currently- so instead I am refocusing to lose to 170 instead :) That would leave me a body fat % of 20% :)

I meet on Friday again to start my program with them!

Overall, I am so excited about my new path and goals!

I don't like to waste money, so to make my gym membership a good deal I go lots. 3 to 6 times a week. We have 3 stories, 3 pools (1 lap, 1 warm water therapy, and one hot tub. ) They offer classes as well as having the machines. The hospital also is an owner and has their PT area there. The trainers also work with the PT patients. Wow I am gushing. I love my gym. emoticon
I hope you also fall in love with your gym and working out there.

Don't feel guilty. Look at all the times you may have wasted money on other things. This is an investment in your health and long life. Take advantage of all that the gym has to offer to get you in the best shape of your life. My husband had signed up for the gym for the first time this year. He has only gone 4 or 5 times. Now, to me that's a waste of money. On the other hand, I'm totally different and take advantage of the gym. Best of luck to you on your journey.
