Shakey legs!!!!

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Ok so this afternoon I had no intention on getting any cardio or leg workouts in today.

This morning John and I went to Sam's Club (our new favorite store). We bought a bunch of things for our new diet plans and even checked out some of the equipment they've got there. Later that day I dropped him off at work and headed home. When I got home I realized our oldest son was not with me he is visiting his mom in Lake Isabella. To my dismay I was the only one who could take things in the house. Our new apartment is on the second story of our building. I didn't know what to take in the house first, the baby or the food?

I left Demetri in his car seat and opened both back doors to my van and the back hatch to get the food. Naturally this wouldn't be that hard with the use of bags and all but we went to Sam's Club, so no bags and we didn't get any boxes either. I grabbed everything I could which was about three items at a time and made my way upstairs. Twelve stairs up and twelve stairs down. The first few trips were ok, but started getting harder. My legs were shaking and my heart was racing. By the fifth trip I could feel my legs trying to give out on me, and my back was aching. The last trip I had to get the baby and the last couple things up the stairs. Demetri is walking now but he has yet to master the stairs so I was carrying him and the 4pack of disinfecting wipes and two boxes of whole wheat spaghetti.

When I got in the house and shut the door I wanted to pass out right there. I knew if I did I would not get up for a few hours. At this point my back felt like it was going to snap in half and my legs were turning to jello. I looked at all the food I had to put away and thought "egh... I can put it away later" WRONG! I had a gallon of milk sitting next to the orange juice and I grabbed it. That gallon of milk turned into an elephant. I felt like I had never lifted anything in my entire life. I got it into the fridge and tried to hobble my way into the room. I had sweat dripping down my back and my forehead. I've never sweat like that in my entire existence. I had Demetri follow me into the room and I put him on the bed with me. We laid there for a minute. My legs were still shaking my heart was racing I felt horrible. I can't believe I am that out of shape. I thought it was going to be a breeze like it used to be. I've never felt more exhausted. It was the quickest 3 hour nap I've ever taken and I felt rested when I was woken up by my mother-in-law. I want to take Demetri to the park but I am afraid of the stairs at this exact moment.

The gallon of milk turned into an elephant? I like how you describe your situation.
I sure hope you realize that you did over come the stairs. Good sense of humour about your quick 3 hour nap!

Those stairs have nothing on you. You can go up and down those stairs as many times as you need, because you have already done. From here on you can only get stronger and stronger.
