Marathon Training - Week 8

So, not a bad week. I did get some training in though not all of it due to my schedule being thrown off with my car out of commission. Needed a ride to work so getting the full runs in was difficult. I ordered new shoes as the last ones I got didn't do well for me. I changed brands and I probably shouldn't have. Need to stick with what I know works for me. So, my new shoes arrived on Friday along with all my new running stuff like my running shorts. It is amazing how just those things can make a difference when going for the long runs.

I went out this morning for my long run but didn't get started as soon as I had wanted. I couldn't fall asleep last night until late so I got up later which made my run begin later. I made sure to have my half cup of coffee along with a snack and water before going out. These things, like the running gear, make a difference. At least for me. Packed up my stuff and headed out. Proud to say that not only did I run 9 miles today, but did it at a pretty good pace. Didn't even feel too bad when I was done which tells me I wasn't pushing to hard which I try not to on my long runs. My pace was 12:08 a mile. I also discovered that my GU chomps are what I like for fueling as I run. Next week will be a slight challenge doing 10 miles. I went through all my water so I think I will need to enlist the help of my coworker that lives in town here and have her leave a water bottle on her porch for me.

All in all, a good training week.
