I wish that I could say that I've always been heavy as a kid, but I wasn't. I've always been skinny and I would be able to eat anything I'd want without gaining weight. I was a gymnast in my early teens and I did well during competitions, getting first place once and second place twice, out of four competitions.
As high school became more difficult and homework started piling up, I didn't have time to do those trainings any more, I quit. For several years after that I could still eat whatever I'd want without gaining weight, that eventually ended some time after 19th birthday. My eating habits didn't change so I started to gain weight.
I eventually weighed 207 pounds, and had an obese BMI of 31,5.
I tried to lose the weight a couple of times, I've even been a member of SparkPeople twice before starting my current account, I didn't last long as I did not educate myself on what I needed to do, I tried a diet once and gave up after losing just a few pounds, the second time I didn't try a diet but I did a lot of cardio until injuring my back and giving up on losing weight because of the injury.
Here's two shots of me near my heaviest.
In february of 2013, I said "enough is enough, this has to change!" and I threw my whole lifestyle around. I stopped snacking, started working out in a safe way so I would not injure myself again, and joined SparkPeople.com for the third time because of the fitness tracker and exercise database.
Three times is a charm, I guess!
After educating myself on how to lose the weight safely, and implementing the right changes in my lifestyle, I started losing weight, and as I lost weight and started to notice the differences, my motivation grew. I took pictures of myself when I lost 30 pounds.
As I write this blog I weigh in at 172 pounds, a BMI of 26.1
I've lost 35 pounds at this point.
I work out smarter now, and I've remained injury-free during my workouts.
I do 3 to 4 cardio workouts a week, And now that I'm closing in on my final weight goal I am doing strength training along with this, adding 1 to 2 strength workouts to my weekly schedule.
My flabby arms have disappeared, and my muscles are starting to show again.
I am loving the strength training and I am loving the fact that I am healthier and feeling better than I have done in years.
I only a have a few pounds left to go until I reach a healthy BMI.
It will take me about a month to reach my goal weight, I will definitely make it. My motivation hasn't dropped since I started losing weight in february, and it doesn't show any signs of dropping any time soon!
I WILL reach my goals!
I AM DEDICATED!
