a busy week, but still got in my exercise!

is it just me, or did last week seem to go on forever?

Sunday was nice. I had spent Saturday with my dad, and the church folks weren't expecting me anyway, so I stayed home. Got lots of stuff done around the house and a full upper body workout on the BowFlex.

Monday was a normal workday. Tuesday DH had oral surgery. So I was his designated driver. Then I was his designated mush cooker. He wanted mashed potatoes when we got home. I was out of milk, but I had some broth. They must have been pretty good because he ate two BIG bowls. For dinner, I made baked acorn squash stuffed with onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Tasty!

Wednesday was really busy at work because my boss was out of town for a company meeting Thursday and Friday. So we had to review everything he hoped I'd get done while he was gone.

Wednesday night I went to a retirement dinner for DH's boss (he's also my former boss). Good dinner (spring mix salad; entrée of salmon, broccoli, and mashed potatoes - and I skipped the dessert). LOTS of drinking. I stuck to my water. Not much of a challenge for me. Way too many alcoholics in my life for me to have any interest in drinking. I have maybe 2 or 3 drinks a year. Maybe.

Thursday and Friday, I was able to get everything on the boss' list done, plus some 'busy work' that had been piling up. It was nice to get in early on Friday. The Tabata class I take is at 6am, so after I shower at the Y, I'm usually at the office about an hour earlier than usual.

this morning I went down to the park for a run. Walked a warm up lap, ran 11 laps, and walked a cool down lap. Total of 5.5 mile in 106 minutes. One of the people who was walking while I was running said that he was worn out just watching me. There were a few times I wanted to take a walk break, but I just slowed my running pace and kept pushing.

this morning's playlist:
So What'cha Want / Beastie Boys
Reelin' in the Years / Steely Dan
Swallowed by the Cracks / David & David
Gone Daddy Gone / Violent Femmes
The South's Gonna Do It Again / Charlie Daniels
No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn / Beastie Boys
Forever / Papa Roach
Gator Country / Molly Hatchet
Sheep Go to Heaven / Cake
So Far Away / Staind
Outside / Staind
Right Here / Staind
Shake it Up / The Cars
Body Movin' / Beastie Boys
Run to the Water / Live

that last song was a perfect ending! My music pace slowed some toward the end, but that turned out to be a good thing. I don't know that I could have kept running to faster music. When I get tired, I try really hard to focus on the beat of the music and my form.

There was a man running the same direction and he lapped me twice. I really made him work for that second one though. Good to have the competition! Knowing he was there made me push myself. According to my HRM, I burned over 600 calories.

then I had to come home and get cleaned up to take Omar for one of his shots. He's such a little stinker.

when we got home from the vet I heated up dinner leftovers for lunch (whole grain pasta with veggie spaghetti sauce). I did a few things around the house then I took a nap. AHHHH. I love a good nap.

workout recap:
Sun - BowFlex upper body / Pilates
Mon - BowFlex legs / spin
Tue - BowFlex upper body / Pilates
Wed - BowFlex upper body / Pilates
Thu - BowFlex legs / spin
Fri - Tabata
Sat - 5.5 mile run/walk

I started using the BowFlex because it was next to impossible to do Pilates with all the dogs climbing on me. That's improved, but I really like the BowFlex. And we paid for the thing; it's a shame not to put it to it's intended use (it IS a really great clothes rack too!)

Spark on!
