Quick check in - 6/21/13

Things are still nuts, but we are hangin' in. My daughter is going through a very difficult situation and I need to focus on helping her through all the sh*t being flung her way. (side note - we call it "monkey poo" - as in "I wish they would stop flingin' monkey poo" - a sense of humor is PRICELESS in this situation). As a parent, I would rather walk through fire than have to stand back and watch things happen to my child. I feel so damn helpless.

With that said, I have learned I am better equipped to help her when I exercise. Even if I'm eating like sh*t (and trust me, I AM right now - I have eaten more ice cream in the last month than I have eaten in the last 4 years!) I ALWAYS feel better when I get some time to workout. Whether it's just walking/running a treadmill, or doing a quick set in the gym - a mere 30 minutes can soothe my stress better than any piece of chocolate, even the good stuff.

My weight is up, my strength is down, and I'm exhausted. But I'm still here. And I will NEVER EVER quit - count on that.

Thank you for all the good wishes, everyone. I appreciate every single thought, prayer, and offer of help sent my way. It feels good to know that I have so many *virtual* friends who are more than willing to step into my real life and help. THANK YOU.

Sorry the monkey poo is still flying; but it's good to know you're both hangin' in there! She's got one great mom in her corner. Still sending lots of happy thoughts your way.

Man I get that - rather walk thru fire - I hate that helpless feeling when it comes to my kids too! I really hope it gets better soon.

Good for you for knowing exercise helps with stress - keep up the good work. I'm right there with ya on the ice cream this summer (and I don't have any excuses).

    This too shall pass.

Love to you and yours honey. I have no idea what you're dealing with, but I had a traumatic situation with my daughter when she was 15 and we made it through alright, even though it was tough for a very long time. You and she will emerge as well and be stronger for whatever's happened.
