Contractor issues

Friday, June 21, 2013

This probably shouldn't come as any surprise but I think as soon as this contractor finishes my pantry we will not use him again.
He is really nice guy and his prices are reasonable - which is really hard to find in the market - BUT......
He allows himself to rabbit trail way too often and since my bark ain't very loud I get the lowest position on his priorities.
This is my biggest complaint - it just feels like such a disrespect of my time.
Maybe in the future IF we hire him again we will have to tell him it HAS to be done by such and such a day.
He didn't come at all yesterday - even though we told himm before he started the pantry that we wanted him to work on it with no rabbit trails till it was done.
He ain't here this morning either - He said he might get here @ noon - UGH
Thanks for letting me vent

Sometimes we get what we pay for. Be mindful, next time as statedpreviously, you get your estimate and have them stick to the commitment and challenge him when things aren't going the way they should. You are the customer and paying him. Not only that, they better they are, the moer you are likely to advertise for him to friends. Who wants bad advertisement?!?! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry to hear this. My DH is very vocal anymore with contractors-be on time, do what you say and you do not get a penny up front-when you get done, you will be paid in full and if they don't want to do that then we will get someone else. We really have to be careful down here as it seems so many take advantage of people. I sometimes wonder why with all the publicity that people keep giving $$ up front. DH says if they don't have enough $$ to finance a project then they aren't a very good businessman and tells them that up front.
I hope you can get this guy there so you get your pantry done. Did he get the bathroom issue resolved??

If he wants to play rabbit, you just tell him to hop to it? Rabbits that like lettuce, that is (or are you all too young for that antiquated reference for dough or bread?)...
Have you nicely asked him what the problems were, like shortage of materials or late getting there, or ? The nicer and more questions that you ask, the more uneasy he might become, but my goodness, you are only concerned for him and his business and other friends that might have considered using him....and would hate for his reputation in town to suffer....and you and the people at (name your church) were just concerned about him and is there anything that they can do to help expedite this for you?

I'm just hoping for the waist, thighs, hips to contract. :)
