Thought and Prayer for Friday, June 21, 2013

Many of us feel we are alone when we are tempted. We feel isolated and that no one really understands. At times, we even feel that no one cares. It may be true that no one on earth understands or cares exactly what we are dealing with and what temptations we are struggling with but we can be assured God knows and cares and wants to help. Our temptations are not really different than the temptations others face and have faced. God can help us all by showing us a way out so we can endure.

1 Corinthians 10:13 “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know we feel isolated at times and like there is no hope. Please forgive us for these feelings and remove them from our lives. We know we sometimes feel as if the temptations are so great that we aren’t able to resist them. However, Lord, we also know You have a plan. We can resist temptation with Your help because You don’t give us anything we can’t handle if we will only put our hope and trust in You. Give us direction and strength to move away from temptation and toward You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Whatever we are dealing with right now, God will get us through it.

What tempts us today has tempted others in the past. There is a way out of our situation when we allow God to lead us.

We can make the decision to follow God every day so that when we are tempted, we will have the strength He can give us to resist it.
God wants to help us when we are tempted but He can’t if we don’t ask Him.

When we feel alone, discouraged and weak, God can help us feel encouraged, happy and strong.

Psalm 138:3 “As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.” (NLT)
