The fruits of my labor

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Tonight was the night to invite DD and the GC out to the garden
to pick the strawberries. What a riot! GS helped pick radishes,
held the bags as I cut Romaine, Black Seeded Simpson and
mixed variety of leaf lettuce. We made a haul. Now to start
sharing. DD also took some of the spinach home with her.
Good eats!
I walked almost 1/2 mile looking for the goats tonight in the
tall brome grass. I "kid" you not, you cannot see them until
you almost step on them. I walked to the east end of the
pasture, where they had been yesterday. No, they were
hiding much closer to the middle pen. But it was a nice day
and a good bit of cardio, trying to move through vegetation that
is over waist high.
Supper was roast pork chops, mashed potatoes and a huge
bowl of mixed lettuce greens. One variety, deer's tongue,
has a mild yet peppery taste to it. DH thinks it is the best.
Now it is time to put my feet up while the dishwasher does
it's thing. Hope you had a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Totally awesome! I am glad you finally got to the best part of the job! Your are the envy of all us Urban geeks. We want what you have without the time, effort and hard labor! Farmers market here I come... There nothing as tasty as food you have grown in your own garden. After all the bad weather you have had it's amazing your crops have done so well.

Thanks for sharing so we can stay hungry until we get to the market! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
