Not a great day today...

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Today at work a bunch of things caught up with me. Well, let's back up. For the past week or so, I've been having some Murphy's Law stuff happening at work, and I've just felt out of control and behind for a while. emoticon

Tuesday starting to make a bit of headway, but pulled in all directions, and ended up with a last minute dinner date with a colleague from out of town. Okay, I can manage that with my plan. But with time so short, I didn't get to exercise. emoticon

So today I figured, oh this will be a good day to catch up. I'm working from home, no meetings to call into. I can get caught up.

The good news is, I did that...or at least made good headway. The bad news is, everything else went crazy. I woke up in the middle of the night with a leg cramp and couldn't go back to sleep, so I turned off my alarm. I usually wake up my usual 6 am and I'm teleworking. Well I woke up when I wanted to start work. Gah.

Grab my water and start working... emoticon

Forget about breakfast until it's practically lunch. I never do that! emoticon

Grab my (not as healthy-- emoticon were involved) leftovers and have them for lunch. But since my fridge is mostly bare (I was going to go to the store before the whole "let's go to dinner" yesterday), had no fruit to grab as a snack or veggies to eat with lunch.

Finally got done work, and have just enough time to run to the credit union for errands that need done (thank goodness for later hours) and go to the store! Although not enough time to write out my shopping list ahead of time/meal plan (I mentioned Murphy's Law week, right?) That's when I realize I'm starving!!! Like shaky starving.

So, I go into the restaurant next to the grocery store. I order a white pizza (comes with broccoli and tomatoes) because delicious and relatively healthy (especially considering the stuff they have there). They bring out the warm bread. OMG. So hungry...yeah. Usually I can stop. I ate practically the whole little loaf of french bread (and yes, of COURSE with butter). THIS IS WHY I NEED TO PLAN AND HAVE MY FOOD READY! Because this is the habit I need to stop! The going too long between meals and then eat too much too fast!

But by the time the meal came I was able to concentrate on each bite and eat slowly...

At least I only had room for one (huge) slice of emoticon ?

Also, I forgot this place has free desserts with meals (it's been a while since I visited). I took that, and the 5/6th of pizza home uneaten.

Then I went to the store and got lots of healthy things. Greek Yogurt. Cottage Cheese. No salt oven roasted turkey at the deli. Sandwich thins. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm still within calories and stuff, but that's not the point. Still drinking water, and I need to go ride my bike so I'm not TWO days without exercise. Wish me luck!

ETA: I forgot to say thank you to everyone who cheered me on from my last entry! I really appreciate the support here at Spark!!!

One day at a time; though some days I have to take it one minute or one hour at a time. Focus on the positive things, let the negatives go becuase they will only drag you down.

You recognized the problems and have a plan to handle them! emoticon
You did a lot of positives, like drinking water and slowing down and concentrating on what you were eating and bringing leftovers home. Plus, you shopped for healthy food for your next meal choice!

Can you tell yourself that you got Murphy's Law out of your way all at one time and it won't happen again for a long time? Keep going, you still made some good choices along the way! emoticon
