Our Children in the Armed Services

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Yesterday we drove 4 hours south to St. Paul/Minneapolis area to see my son off on his next mission.
He's going to Afghanistan for 18 months. It was very hard to keep a happy face. They gave them a nice send off. We went to a local restaurant. TGIF's. Our first time there. Nice restaurant but what blew me away was at how great the service was. There were other military families there also. We had 4 hours before they had to go back to their motel for one last night and then fly out at 4 a.m. The service at TGIF was crazy good and they didn't mind one bit that we took up so much space and enjoyed every second with our son before leaving the last two hours alone with his bride of one week.
When I start thinking too hard about him being over there again...the tears start to flow....
Chin up I tell myself....but it's so scary. I can't imagine what his new bride is going thru.
Please all my spark friends keep our children in the Armed Forces in your prayers.

Bless you, that must be really hard. I will keep him in my prayers. My DH was in Vietnam. I didn't know him then. I'm sure you are very proud of him and you should be. Hope you can have a good weekend. emoticon

Prayers going out to you and your family....I am so grateful there are brave young people willing to protect our freedoms. I come from a non military background....no one in my immediate family served overseas....the closest is my brother who was in the National Guard back when they did not get deployed.....long since retired from that. I can't imagine what your new DIL is going through....Be strong and keep a positive attitude.....HUGS Lynel emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can't imagine the worry. But I do know to stay in today and enjoy them while you have them just as you did. And pray for all the brave young men and women who protect us with their lives. You must be really proud of him and I thank God everyday for his willingness to serve. emoticon emoticon
